The Trail of Life
I have
traveled the trail of life
For a considerable number of years,
Most of the time it was fun,
Although there were a few tears.
At times the trail was rocky,
And not too well defined,
But I managed to struggle onward,
Keeping the rules in mind.
No doubt I misread a few markers,
And wandered around somewhat,
I honestly think I know no one
Who can truthfully say he has not.
I feel sure the good Lord will forgive me
If I did take a detour or two,
For I know my transgressions were minor
And numbered only a few.
When my pack-train reaches the summit
And I cross the last divide,
My the trail be well maintained
And the bars flung open wide.
My the grass be green and luscious,
The water sweet and cool,
May there be ample supplies in my panniers,
And I find an abundance of fuel.
May the sun shine bright in the heavens,
May the moon come up at night,
So I wont miss any of the blazes,
Until my Maker's camp is in sight.
Then after a joyful reunion
I will rest a day or two.
Then with the consent of my Master,
I'll pitch a tent for you.
We'll pick a spot that's shady
On a knoll that's high and dry,
So we can all be reunited
In the glorious and sweet bye and bye.
For no matter who we are,
Or what our station on earth,
We are all heading for that summit
From the first day of our birth.
Just tie your pack securely
And keep your ponies shod.
Travel steadily forward,
And place your trust in God.
He will not desert you
No matter how dark the night,
You will find him there beside you,
Ready to steer you right.

tent" must have been genetically passed on to GiniLu :)
