Staying Younger

(Or: How to Win While You're Losing and Stay Young While You're Growing Old)

(Editor's note: You may be one of those "birthday challenged" folks (meaning you haven't yet had as many birthdays as the rest of us). And you may think that this does message doesn't apply to you. Before you hit the delete button, consider the fact that following these "rules" may keep you younger longer. You will certainly develop habits that will be useful later on. And in the meantime, you can be a voice of encouragement to someone you know who may think their useful days are behind them.)

Some people have the knack of being unhappy, even when they have everything. Others can be happy even when they have nothing. If you are unhappy, it's time to change knacks. These rules are my mother's knacks for knocking out the gremlins that growing older brings. They won't make you younger, but they will make the passing days more pleasant.

--- Robert Ronald, American Jesuit Missionary
