Greetings to our K-Family (Kiwanis affiliated group of clubs) and other friends.

Below, as the second of of eight week test series. is a synopsis of current news and

events affecting Rosemead residents and workers.

NEWS

 

       Octoberfest Success – An estimated 10,000 visitors attended the special

       Octoberfest celebration in support of Savannah Memorial Pioneer Cemetery,   

       raising an estimated $30,000, principally through the sale of raffle tickets.

       Kiwanian Burl Blue wrote a special commentary for the El Monte Cemetery

       Association’s most recent newsletter, found here in a .pdf file (see page 2).

 

       Free books by RIF – the RIF-SoCal (Reading is Fundamental – Southern

       California ) program held the first of three programs in cooperation with

       eleven Rosemead area schools during October, with ten different Kiwanian

       volunteers either reading or distributing books at five of them (some

       volunteers participating in more than one site)..

 

      Kiwanis Garden/RecRoom Dedication – The Temple Intermediate School

      last month hosted a special Kiwanis meeting featuring dedication of an on-

      campus garden and rec room in recognition of Kiwanian involvement at the

      school. The garden honor is shared with the Southern California Edison     

      Company, a firm that has also helped the school. Featured as part of the

      dedication was a tree and plaque in honor of the late Past President of

      Rosemead Kiwanis, John Rowland.
