NEWS
RETHINK SEMINAR ―
Combined admission for both days will be $25, of which $ 5 will be
given to the Rosemead Kiwanis Foundation, according to United Methodist Pastor
and Kiwanian Mike Deguzman. Details are being finalized and will be furnished
as a supplemental email and posted to the rosemeadkiwanis.org website as soon as available.
AFTERSCHOOL.NOW
― DECEMBER ISSUE The After
School Alliance has released the December, 2007, issue
of Afterschool.now. A special, more easily read, .pdf edition has been
posted in eight pages to the rosemeadkiwanis.org
website. Featured are two articles on studies illustrating academic gains from
afterschool programs and a $100 increase in Federal funding for such programs.
STATE OFFERS MORTGAGE CRISIS
RESOURCE "Many Californians are facing the possibility of home foreclosure due to
unforeseen circumstances and events," notes a bulletin from
Assemblyman and former Kiwanis KEY Club member Mike Eng. As a resource to help
in this area the state has established a special crises website. The address is
http://adc.asm.ca.gov/issues/MortgageCrisis.
Resources on the site include keys to avoiding foreclosure scams and available
free loan counseling from Federal agencies.
