Each RIF school has three special reading-oriented activities per year.  Below is a synopsis of some events associated with the present 2007-2008 cycle.

Savannah – March 3: Kiwanians Fred Mascorro, Frank Quintinella and Scott Wick assisted site organizer Debbi Lawrence in distributing over 200 books to kids in graders 1-3. Mrs. Cat in the Hat read to the children in an event which qualifies Rosemead Kiwanis for another consecutive “Read Around the World” patch from Kiwanis International.

Willard – March 3 With a special appearance by Kiwanian Bob Bruesch as the dot of the exclamation point, students arranged themselves as letters on the Willard playground, spelling out the school’s name. They waved ecstatically as a Sherriff’s helicopter did a flyover. Several hundred books were also distributed.
