NEWS

 

Kiwanis Division 10 K-family Clubs (including several dozen KEY Club volunteers from Rosemead High School) sponsored a health fair April 3 in conjunction with the annual pancake breakfast of the San Gabriel Kiwanis Club. A montage of pictures of the event is accessible from the home page of the rosemeadkiwanis.org website.

THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 2010 – RKC MEETING (Regular meeting)*

 

“A Word from a Veteran" – actually three veterans.  The first, Ms. Doris Zavala, is. 90 yrs. old. She was one of the First Women to be assigned to the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WW2.  She will be accompanied by her daughter, Roxanne Zavala, A Gardena Kiwanian.  The second, Mr. Louis Morales, served with the Army in Vietnam. He is presently the Chief of Staff for the V. F.W. 23 Dist..  The third will be Sgt John Benitez, who served with the Marines in Viet-Nam.

THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2010 – RKC MEETING (Regular meeting)*

 

Note: due to preemption of our normal meeting facility by an event at the California Mission Inn this meeting will be held at Denny’s Restaurant, 3643 Rosemead Blvd [just south of Marshall St] in Rosemead.

 

Board Meeting -- In a continuation of recent practice, the RKC and RKC Foundation boards will hold a joint meeting open to participation by all RKC members. The meeting will include Committee reports and discussion of upcoming activities.

 

THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2010 – PUBLIC SAFETY MEETING (Special Event)

 

Monthly Safety Meeting 7:00 pm at Rosemead’s Public Safety Center, 8301 Garvey Avenue for all Neighborhood Watch captains, concerned residents, school officials and business owners.  The topic for April has not yet been supplied but will be listed when available. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, 2010 – FOLK MUSIC EVENING (Special Event)

 

Folk Music Evening – a benefit performance for the upcoming Rosemead Relay for Life featuring the “Folk Collection Quartet” The group will be leading a program “from ‘Blowin in the Wind’ and ‘This Land is Your Land’ to ‘If I had a Hammer’ and the famous ‘MTA.’”

 

Comments one Kiwanian who has seen the group perform “the show is nostalgic, entertaining, and family friendly, blending music with jokes and humor. Its OK to sing along … most people do.”

Trivia Time – once again our RKC President, Carol Mahoney, will preside over teams of our RKC members vying for primacy in the world of the obscure but interesting information.
