NEWS Tuesday June 22, 2010 – Important City Meetings There will be a joint budget workshop of the City Council
and Rosemead Community Development Commission
at 5:00 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers. It will be followed by a
jam-packed agenda for the City Council meeting at 7:00 pm. City council agenda items include: Fireworks :Final approval of permits for 16
fireworks stands throughout the city leading up to the Independence Day
weekend – unchanged in number from last year. Oil Recycling Approval of paperwork for a grant block to fund the
city’s annual used oil recycling program (now in its 16th season). School Traffic Safety Approval of this year’s Neighborhood
Traffic Safety program involving a half million dollars of improvements. The
program will be funded using allocated state funds and City Employees Approval of a new two year contract which allows for
reduced contributions to employee pensions for workers hired ater July 1, 2010 and no COLA increases. Business Licenses Approval of a revised schedule of city business license
fees, which have been compared to Los Angeles county averages and found not
to have been upgraded for eighteen years. Repaving Approval of $235,000 for slurry seal renewal of paving n
various Infrastructure Improvements: Next step in issuance of $9.7
million in municipal infrastructure improvement bonds to be financed from
allocation of funds from existing property tax revenues Underground utilities Establishment of the city’s ninth underground
utility district is being proposed. It will run along Walnut Grove from The benefits are both aesthetic and safety related. The
proposed $3.1 million program will take an estimated three years to complete

2010 – Community Safety Meeting Registered Sex
Offenders – Part II "Understanding How Parole Agents Monitor the
Registrants"
will be the featured topic beginning at 7:00 pm in the Law enforcement cannot dictate where an offender lives, as
long as the offender registers his/her residence with the appropriate address
and in compliance with state law. The work of a parole agent is to prevent
sex offenders from future sexual victimization. At this meeting, Parole Agent Villar
from the California Department of Correctional and Rehabilitation will
explain the process of how sex registrants
